What is infrared heating?

Infrared is a modern, innovative way to heat your property. It looks great, takes up very little space, can be wall or ceiling mounted or freestanding and comes in a wide range of shapes and sizes to suit your room. Rather than heating the air - like traditional gas, oil and electric systems - infrared heats the very fabric of your building. The process is 100% energy efficient, delivering significant energy and cost saving benefits.

So whether you live in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales or the Channel Islands, Redwell can deliver infrared energy efficient warmth for your home or business.

Solutions for every environment

Recent years have seen far infrared technology adapted into attractive, effective heating products for home, office, retail and commercial settings.

The flexibility of infrared heating panels holds another advantage over conventional heat systems: being both unobtrusive and attractive, infrared heating panels can be installed on walls (or ceilings) almost anywhere in a property - and can be designed to reflect the aesthetic characteristics of their environment. Choose between a mirror, a blackboard or a piece of art. You can even choose to customise your heater with an image of your choice.

100% Energy efficient

100% of the electrical energy used by infrared systems is converted into heat. Infrared panels offer owners an unprecedented level of control over their property's temperature and energy use. Research shows that a sufficiently insulated building, fitted with infrared panels, can expect significant reductions in energy usage, including:

  • Up to 25% reduction
    on gas central heating systems
  • Up to 50% reduction
    on oil central heating systems
  • Up to 60% reduction
    on electrical storage heating.

Infrared heating is based on a much lower watts-per-cubic-metre ratio than gas and oil systems - meaning the potential for financial savings is greater in almost all contexts.

100% Controllable

Like conventional heating systems, far infrared heating products can be controlled through a range of programmable thermostats, receivers and sensors. RedwellGB offers products to suit:

  • Individual rooms / zones
  • Individual appliances (plug-in thermostat)
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Passive Infrared Sensors (PIR's)

Receivers and thermostats can be hard-wired or wireless.

100% Safe

Infrared is a healthy vital heat - effectively recreating the sun's comforting warmth. Our bodies naturally absorb and emit the same type of heat, and infrared heating provides the following health benefits as standard:

  • Infrared heat warms the human body more comfortably than heated air currents.
  • As opposed to traditional convection heating, infrared heating attracts and creates far less airborne dust, pollen and bacteria - ideal for occupants suffering from allergies or asthma.
  • Far infrared has become a widely recognised form of natural healthcare and is used in physiotherapy and rheumatism treatments.
  • Far infrared waves stimulate blood circulation and, as a result, help heal injuries faster.

Warmer for longer

Rather than heating and circulating the air in the room like traditional heating systems, infrared heats you directly as well as the very fabric of your building. This includes the walls, the furniture and any other objects in it.

These objects then release heat to you at a slow and steady rate, furthering the effect of the infrared heating system. For example, stone used in the construction of a building will absorb a considerable amount of heat and release it back out over time. The end result is that your building stays warmer for longer so you can run your heating less often and keep energy bills down.

Easy installation and low maintenance

Infrared heating systems have no moving parts, allowing fast installation and vastly reducing their potential for problems and failures. Unlike water-based heating or fan-assisted systems, which may generate repair costs or the need for replacement parts, infrared technology requires virtually no maintenance or servicing.

When installing infrared heating systems, RedwellGB takes into account a property's current level of insulation and heat loss - along with considerations like energy usage per room and occupants' behavioural habits. All RedwellGB infrared heating panels and control products are certified to national safety standards and installed by highly trained personnel.
